Keith Homes won two housing excellence awards at the 2014 Builders Association of Metropolitan Pittsburgh (BAMP) dinner on December 13th. Both winning homes were in the Green Building/ Energy Efficient categories.
In the Green/ Energy Efficient Home under $500,000 category, the winning home was our current Quick Move Home, an Evergreen model. We believe in building sustainable homes using the most modern techniques that will stand the test of time. This project is representative of our work in green housing and of the quality of the homes we build. Independently tested by a third party, the house earned a HERS score of 50 and is certified Energy Star 3. To meet current building codes, a home’s HERS score must be below 100. To meet the Energy Star standard, a house must score less than 80. We don’t believe in merely meeting the standard; we want to set new standards, in all aspects of the building process. Every single home we build exceeds the Energy Star standard. With a HERS score of 50, the owner of this home can expect to see energy savings of $898 per year over the typical NEW home, and $1,437 per year over the typical existing home.
In the Green/Energy Efficient Home under $850,000 category, the winning home is a custom-built ranch with over 4,000 square feet. With high-end finishes and a HERS score of 52, this winning home proves that energy efficiency and beauty are not mutually exclusive. The home features hand-scraped floors, a gourmet kitchen, and a spa-like master bath with a custom-tiled shower. With the energy efficient features and construction techniques used to build the home, the owners can look forward to spending half as much on their utility bills as similar homes not built to our high standard.
We are currently planning our Housing Excellence entries for 2015. Give us a call today, and the next winning home could be yours!
