In the Green/ Energy Efficient Home under $500,000 category, the winning home was a Cottonwood style home with four bedrooms and a spacious main level featuring a gourmet kitchen and a formal dining room. Independently tested by a third party, the house earned a HERS score of 43 and is certified Energy Star 3. To meet current building codes, a home’s HERS score must be below 100. To meet the Energy Star standard, a house must score less than 80. Every Keith Home exceeds the Energy Star standard. This year our houses had the best scores we have ever had and we continue to strive to improve further with each home we build. With a HERS score of 43, the owner of this home can expect to see energy savings of $1,078 per year over the typical NEW home, and $1,616 per year over the typical existing home.
